Cathedra is a reading site. It has no accounts, no comments, no forms, and no advertising, and it sets no cookies. This page describes the little data that does move when you visit, and why.

What is collected

Aggregate visit statistics. Cathedra uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or persistent identifiers. Each visit is recorded against a hash derived from the request and a salt that changes daily, so a visitor cannot be followed across days or across sites. The resulting reports show pages viewed, referring sites, countries, browsers, and device types, in aggregate only. Vercel Speed Insights collects anonymous performance measurements (Core Web Vitals) from a sample of visits for the same purpose. Both are operated by Vercel Inc., which also hosts the site.

Hosting logs. Like any web server, the hosting infrastructure records requests (IP address, browser user agent, requested address) in short-lived operational logs used for security and reliability. Cathedra does not export or analyze them.

What stays on your device

Your theme choice.If you switch the theme with the toggle in the header, the preference is kept in your browser's local storage under the key cathedra-theme. It is not a cookie, it is never sent to the server, and clearing your browser data removes it.

What is not done

No advertising or ad networks. No third-party tracking pixels or social media embeds. No typefaces loaded from third parties at runtime: the fonts are bundled with the site. No selling, renting, or sharing of visitor data with anyone.

Profiles link to Wikimedia Commons, Wikipedia, and other sources for image provenance and further reading. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which apply once you leave Cathedra.
